AMERICAN authorities have filled a request with Spanish authorities to use two military bases in Andalucia as stopovers in their mission to contain the Ebola outbreak.

The Pentagon and Spanish military health officials are negotiating ‘strict protocols’ that would govern use of the Rota (Cadiz) and Moron de la Frontera (Sevilla) military bases.

In its effort to contain the outbreak spreading across West Africa, personnel from the 3,000-strong American mission would touch base to refuel and rest.

Personnel will not be allowed to leave the bases.

American authorities have offered guarantees that neither medical staff, nor anyone who might have come in contact with the Ebola virus, will be on board the aircrafts landing in Spain.
