A CONSERVATION programme has been hailed a huge success after helping to triple the number of Iberian lynx’s in Andalucía.
The Life Lince Recovery and Conservation Programme aimed to protect more than 300 of the big cats living in four areas between Donana and Sierra Morena.
Despite the promising rise in numbers the cats are still endangered and it is believed 21 lynxes died last year after being hit by cars.
The project, which was carried out using EU funds, has now been voted the best conservation programme in Europe.
