ANDALUCIA residents should prepare to get even hotter under the collar than they already are, as climate experts are forecasting spiralling temperatures in years to come.

A long-term weather projection by the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change predicts a 3.9% average temperature increase over the next century, together with an alarming 26% decrease in the amount of rainfall.

Andalucia’s current yearly average temperature is 19 degrees Celsius and the report suggests that is set to rise by up to another sizzling 4 degrees.

The aim of the long-term forecast is to predict human activity in order to plan future water supply and agricultural production.

With the region set to become increasingly arid, a large-scale agricultural shift will most likely follow at some point in the next 100 years.
