A LIONESS has been found living on a residential urbanisation in Spain.

A Sevilla man had allegedly sold the animal to a man who kept her as a pet in a make-shift enclosure.

Police found the lioness, which is not allowed to be bred in captivity, after receiving a tip-off about the animal’s existence.

Action is now being taken against the current owner.

Meanwhile the previous owner, 69,  who initially purchased the nine month old lioness for €2,500, has now been linked to crimes of fraud and the trafficking of a threatened species.

The lioness has been transferred to a zoo in Madrid until a decision is reached about her future.
