The first of its kind in Spain, the AORA plant in Almeria uses an innovative energy generating system which uses less land and water while generating more usable power than any other solar energy system.
AORA Solar is an Israeli developer of applied ultra-high temperature concentrated solar power (CSP).
The roughly 2,000-square-meter facilities are capable of supplying 100 kilowatts of electricity per hour and about 170 kilowatts of heat energy as a byproduct, which in the case of Spain will be used to power an adjacent desalination facility.
AORA’s solar thermal technology differs in that other applications use the heat of the sun to power a steam turbine, whereas their technology is the first commercial use of a solarized gas turbine.
