NUTS: Not so healthy

NEW research claims nuts make you put on weight.

Healthy dieters who snack on nuts, seeds and dried fruit may be piling on the pounds without even realising.

Nuts and seeds can contain lots of saturated fat and dried fruit is full of sugar.

The SupermarketOwnBrandGuide website, who conducted the research, found that 100g of brazil nuts contains 16.4g of saturated fat-three quarters of a woman’s recommended daily intake.

And a 100g of dried fruit, such as raisins and sultanas, contains over 64g of sugar compared to a KitKat which has only 47.8g.

The news comes as millions of people embark on New Year diets and attempt to switch chocolate for supposedly healthier snacks.
