A CLEVER eco-friendly bike scheme has been introduced in Ronda. The project involves the installation of 70 bikes at seven key sites around the town.
Estimated to be cutting 39,000 litres of petrol a year, so far 100 local residents have joined the scheme, which costs just 30 euros a year.
Already dubbed a success, the 110,000 euro project is to be emulated in at least one other town, Nerja.
So far there has been no vandalism or theft of the bikes that are picked up using a special code.
The Enbici scheme, which is being regulated by just three local technicians will cut the town’s emissions by an estimated 112 tonnes of CO2 a year.
