THE local politicians have been clamouring for an expensive and environmentally-damaging toll motorway between the two towns for years.
But Ronda and Marbella are going to have to put up with something much more ecological, in the short term at least.
For a new walking and cycling route has been inaugurated between the two towns.
The scenic route, called the Puerta Verde, spans 42.6 kilometers of the stunning Sierra de las Nieves natural park.
The medium-difficulty Puerta Verde is great for cyclists and walkers and offers stunning scenery through cork groves and mountain pines.
It also requires no expensive petrol!
More route information can be found on the Junta de Andalucia web site.
