ANDALUCIA is Spain’s second highest creator of green jobs, according to a study undertaken by Spain’s sustainability watchdog (OSE).
The 91,517 jobs so far created in the sector came second behind the 93,660 posts generated in Catalonia, while Madrid could only muster 62,494 roles.
Furthermore, just under 30,000 people across the region work in sewage treatment and renewable energy. Meanwhile, Andalucia came third when it came to jobs working directly with renewable energy, behind Catalunia and Madrid.
The study revealed that almost one fifth of all jobs created in Spain are green related.
It has also emerged that half of Spain’s agricultural and livestock workforce is based in Andalucia.
Some 20,040 people work in Andalucia’s primary sector – by far the lion’s share in Spain.
